OCEAN CHALLENGE CUP GREECE

The Deep Blue International Ocean Cruising Club, (DBIOCC), offers people the opportunity to enjoy the experience of sailing in our annual
Blue Water regatta, which takes place in Greece in the month of May each year. We change the venue and sailing location regularly to add to the enjoyment of sailing in Greece. The whole event takes place over one week and includes 3 days of races around the islands and 3 days of fun cruising and beach parties. You can join the whole week event or just the 3 days regatta, the choice is yours.

To take part in the regatta, all you need is a group of 6 people with one member of your team being a qualified skipper. If you wish to take part but do not have a skipper, we will provide one for you. The DBIOCC organises the yachts for you. We provide first class 40ft to 43ft yachts at highly reduced rates. We arrange the whole itinerary, including first night party, end of regatta dinner with prizes and yacht provisions on your arrival.

The winning team is presented with the “Winners Cup” and trophies. We expect the winners to come back and defend the cup the following year.

Each DBIOCC Greek regatta is financed by the number of people taking part. Typically the cost to take part is around £420 per person. This includes the yachts, first night party and end of regatta dinner and prizes. To find out more about the regatta, call us on 0870 240 5107.

DBIOCC Greek regatta - May 2007.
The 2007 regatta was the biggest and best to date with 45 people and 8 yachts taking part. Teams came from Norway, Canada, USA and the UK. The racing was competitive, the parties were excellent and the atmosphere was magical! Many thanks to everyone for making the 2007 regatta a fantastic event and we look forward to seeing you all back next year. We aim to double the numbers in 2008

The Venue:Skiathos, Greece.
Flights to Skiathos are on Wednesdays and Fridays

The Dates: From Friday 16th to Friday 23rd May 2008
The itinerary:

Day1. Friday 16th May
Arrive Skiathos airport at lunchtime
All yachts depart for Skopleos Island for 1st night beach party

Day2. Saturday 17th May
1st race. Around Skopelos Island, finishing at Skopelos town

Day3. Sunday 18th May
2nd race. Skopelos to Monastery, Nisos Planayia.
BBQ on the beach

Day4. Monday 19th May
3rd race. Monastery to Steni Vala, Alonnisos Island
End of regatta dinner & awards

Days 5 to 7. (20th to 22nd May)
Club cruise around more islands and beach parties
22nd May we return to Skiathos town by 18.00

Friday 23rd May - flights home from Skiathos airport

The package:
The entry fee for the 2008 regatta includes the following:

• Full regatta itinerary and organisation
• The yachts
• First day provisions on each yacht
• First night party in a beach restaurant on Skopelos Island
• End of regatta dinner with table wine and prizes

Flights and personal expenses are not included.
